Mysterious tropical funkers Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band return with their fourth album »BRSB« out on Brooklyn-based label Big Crown Records. HHV Records are stocking exclusively 200 limited edition copies of the album on a yellow steel vinyl, with pre-orders available now before the March 8, 2024 release.
Nuthin’ but a Steel thang
The Hamburg steel pan group have gained notoriety around the world since their 2016 debut album »55«, becoming known for covering classic tracks such as 50 Cent’s »P.I.M.P.«. They continue in the same vein on »BRSB«, with highlights including Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg’s »Nuthin’ But A G Thang« cover and Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ that will certainly become new favourites.
But they also record originals to dismiss the idea they are just a »covers band«, with »Grilled« and »Treasure Quest« nodding to their African funk influences whilst still honouring the traditional steel pans of Trinidad and Tobago. As their tracks become staples of DJ sets to hype up clubbers, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band are fast becoming a must-have artist in your record collection.
Release-Party in Hamburg
To mark the release of »BRSB«, the Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band has decided to make a rare live performance and will bring the new album to the stage at Hamburg’s Café Schöne Aussichten on June 12 June, 2024.
