The Numero Group is an American record label from Chicago, founded in 2003 by Tom Lunt, Rob Sevier and Ken Shipley and specialized in reissues and rarities. The main focus is on re-release of artists who never got the earned repekt in lifetime or didn´t have commercial success. This way the history of the label began with Lunt, Sevier and Shipley looking in their own record collection for soul und R’n’B treasures that were underrated from their pespective und largely unknown. Like other record labels their catalog includes mainly compilations. The Discographie of CDs, DVDs, cassettes and vinyl is caracterized by a high aesthetic demand for the products, which are usually provided with liner notes, rare photographs and bonus material. With no less claim as beeing the »best archival record label« worldwide, The Numero Group released already artists like Little Ed & The Soundmasters, Jackie Stoudamire, Shirley Ann Lee and countless further soul/funk and R’n’B acts. Early 2011 The Numero Group appeared in the mass media, when they successfully fought apple and their introduction of the iCloud service, they saw the right of the on Numero represented artists impinged and their income in danger.
