The Black Dog is a techno group from London, formed in 1989 by Ken Downie, Andrew Turner and Ed Handley. The band consists of Ken Downie, Martin Dust and Richard Dust nowadays. Andrew Turner and Ed Handley are known under the name of Plaid. The Black Dog are regarded as pioneers of the so-called Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) (a genre of British techno music from the 1990s) besides Autechre, The Aphex Twin, LFO and µ-Ziq.
