Office Recordings

Office Recordings is a record label founded by Berliners Bastian Völker and Christian Fladung in 2011. With the launch of the label, Bastian Völker fulfilled a decades-long dream. His dream was realised when he found the right partner for the job; photographer Christian Fladung who was equipped with graphics and screen printing experience. The two took care of their areas of expertise and shared the work load. [The entire package should be consistent” explains Bastian Völker regarding the concept behind the complex and varied releases. Which includes not only his own productions as Baaz but also the celebrated EP ‘Broke’ from Christopher Rau. “We always like it, if a label goes to the trouble concerning the artwork and as a result one can also place the cover on the shelf, because it has a good feeling about it and it is nice to look at. For us that was very important from the beginning”. Although up to now there is little material from other acts at Office Recordings to listen to, apart from Bastian Völkers’ two EPs and debut album, the two owners by no means would like to stew in their own juice. “If you launch a record on your own label, you feel as if you are a little bit more associated with it” answers Bastian Völker to the question of why his LP ‘Red Souvenirs’ appears under his own signature. “Not in any case is Office Recordings only for friends. It is totally open. I try and listen to every demo and look forward to discovering a new talent.” Just like how every release from Office Recording is worth an eavesdropping.
