Ninja Tune is a London-based record label, founded in 1990 by Matt Black and Jonathan More (widely known as Coldcut). Sub labels of Ninja Tune include Big Dada, Counter Records and N-Tone. Matt Black and Jonathan More produced the 1988 Yazz’ the Only Way Is Up and had some club hits with their own record Doctorin’ the House. Their experiences during this period lead to the foundation of Ninja Tune. Artists including DJ Food, Funki Porcini, The Herbaliser and The Cinematic Orchestra gave the label a very original sound combining elements of hip hop, funk, jazz and downtempo. Over the years the roaster of the label grew and includes artists like such different artists as Amon Tobin, Fink, Bonobo, Wagon Christ, Kid Koala and Daedelus. Ninja Tune is regarded as one of the most influential British record labels of the last two decades.
