Circle Vision

Circle Vision* is a Danish record label from Copenhagen founded in 2013 by Ruben Dag Nielsen.

The majority of the releases on his label Circle Vision are composed by Nielsen himself. »I want to have the ultimate control over my music«, the producer, who is known under the alias RDG, says. »It’s hard for me, however, to only push my own productions, since I am always receiving fantastic music.«
Nonetheless, Nielsen tries to have his fingers in every pie, when it comes to each release, whether as a remixer, feature guest, or under other pseudonyms. As a label, Circle Vision is not a one-man show, rather it has enlarged its personnel since the first release: in the meantime Casper Mejlholm aka Mejle supports Nielsen with the label’s shop, Nicolai Krog takes care of the PR, and of course artists from all over the world have appeared on the dubstep oriented Imprint: Piezo & Clearlight formed an Italian-Belgium cooperation, Gaze Ill and Beastie Respond come from the label´s motherland Denmark, and the Londoner K-Man is the sole representative of the home of the Circle Vision sound: Great Britain.

Dubstep in general. Is the scene not dead somehow? »To be honest, I am very happy that Dubstep is no longer everywhere. The wrong people have left the scene, and joined the next big thing«, Nielsen says, and knows at the same time, that he would not want Circle Vision to be seen as a Dubstep label anyway. »As a producer I have moved around many different genres, which is why Circle Vision also explores other avenues, than the people would have expected of RDG’s label.« And even though he spots a lot of talent and interest in bass music in Copenhagen’s underground scene, Nielsen is on the world wide search for new material. Thereby, leading the way is his own style. »The producers, who I signed to the label, have the same ideas or some, which are related to mine. They produce music in the sense, which reminds me of my own.« Fundamentally, however, the squad are from Nielsen’s circle of friends. »It is my circle, my Circle Vision.« Although RDG is in the centre, nobody is excluded.
