Velodrome

На Велодроме 141

Dark Entries • 2019

Dark Entries, the coolest post-whatever label from San Francisco, presents itself with a ten-year anniversary present and relaunches the Belgian new-beat delicacy »Au Velodrome 141«. Eventually the record was sold on discogs for 150 flocks. So much money for spoiled records from the late eighties – even if Ricardo Villalobos plays the record, Ben Ufo lets it go on the crowd at the Dekmantel Festival and techno torero Oscar Mulero chases the bulls through the pipes of the Boiler Room. If you google Velodrome, you’ll come across two names. The musicians Krishna Goineau and Jordi Guber recorded the EP in 1988 – years after they met by accident in a studio. Goineau was then still the singer for the Kraftwerk epigones of Liaisons Dangereuse, who were extremely popular in Chicago and laid the foundation for the later House music. But the Spanish singer felt so attracted by Guber’s synthi skills that he instantaneous went to Belgium with him. The both recorded first pieces for compilations as Metropakt, checked themselves soon the newest Roland machines, plugged the things together in the ICP Studios in Brussels and called themselves Velodrome. The first and only EP was created: »Au Velodrome 141«. A classic that nobody were awre of at the time, that over 30 years later it would still be fresh like Kinder Buenos from the freezer. Dada lyrics, Spitzkant arpeggios, bouncer grooves. DJs should buy this record!
