After the Detroit techno inspired EP »ISS010« and the unmastered ambient experiments »A«, »B« und »C«, Bryan Müller aka Skee Mask continues the thread through his musical catalogue with »Resort«. »Resort« begins as softly as all the previous albums. However, precise drums, synth pads and even downtempo soon nestle into the soft and delicate details of his musical landscapes. The album is full of rich diversity. On »Daytime Gamer«, for example, footwork notes are laid casually over a warm synth, while on »Schneider’s Paradox« even the most elaborate breakbeats are underpinned by small melodies.
There are occasional parallels to »Compro« and »Shred«, but »Resort« feels fresh and polished. As if Skee Mask had simply decided to broaden and balance his musical spectrum. The location is also irrelevant, be it a small intimate rave, a sunrise after the club or simply in the park. The main thing is that the clever and subtle reinterpretations are continuously played.
