Now, Andrew Field-Pickering aka Maxmillion Dunbar, uses Cool Waters to tie in with the self-titled »Afro-Cosmic«. Slow Motion House? Cosmic Boogie? All is possible, nothing is carved in stone, but the roots of Hip Hop are defenitely taken along and already the first track Pretty Pleasy flirts with New Jack Swing. Pretty it is, no question. A different drum machine on every track leaves the listeners astonished and one wonders whether it be a Linn, an Oberheim or a Roland. And because the drums are so important, legendary jazz drummer Ali Rashied gets his own percussion track. After that, things slow down, get a bit more cosmic and crazy samples on Lemon & Line pursue a frolic razzle-dazzle. Speaking of effects: Further we travel to India with the compulsory flutes and kickdrums and their original boom. Here, Dunbar shows no humour. We do, though, and are surprised about one of this year´s best albums. A revelation!
