Magic Source is another project conceived by Björn Wagner, who is not only known for his cosmic disco sound with the Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band and the funk from the Mighty Mocambos, but also runs the Hamburg label Mocambo Records. With »Voyage Spectral«, Magic Source follow on from their previous releases »Earthrising« and »Riviera Drive«, whose cover version of »Genius of Love« also made it onto the new album.
Ranging from dreamy melodies and oriental grooves to funky sounds and euphoric tones, Magic Source’s »Voyage Spectral« spans a multifaceted palette of different moods. It shows us the different dimensions of disco music and impresses with its interplay of strings, wind, voices, synthesisers, drums, Clavinet and percussion. The 8-track album begins with »Saturn Moon Dive«, a mystical piece peppered with sci-fi sounds, and ends with the soothing and reflective sounds of »Space of Mind«.
