Ariel

Ariel

Jazz Room • 1980

This album is a real energy boost. »Ariel« combines a fast Latin jazz feel with funky Rhodes-driven arrangements. Tracks like »The Girl With Three Faces«, »7:47 To Rio« or »From Dusk Towards Dawn« focus on driving rhythms that push the tempo up and fill the dance floors. But the diversity of the EP, first released in 1980 on Pick Up Records, doesn’t stop there. »Travelling« and »Circles In The Air« delve deep into the funk realm and offer catchy grooves. These two tracks are characterised by a successful mix of melody, energy, and irresistible beat that immediately sweeps you along. The guest appearances by Hawaiian singer Lei Aloha Moe are both impressive and a bit unusual, as her powerful vocals on »Black Wing« and »When I Close My Eyes« give »Ariel« a new dimension. Her singing adds a touch of musical flair to the tracks and sets them apart from the rest of the album.  The reissue of the Danish jazz band Ariel, released on Jazz Room, is an exciting find.
