13&God

Own Your Ghost

Alien Transistor • 2011

It has taken six years of maturation time, until the Ensemble 13&God – consisting of members of the American Avent-Hopper Themselves and the German Electronic-Experimental-Guitarists The Notwist – finished their second studio album. Named Own Your Ghost, it is an album just as mysterious as the title suggests: a mixture between experimental Hip Hop, electronic guitar-Pop-Rock and lots and lots of atmosphere. The Opener, Its Own Sun, is greeting the listener with the soft tunes typical to The Notwist and the velvety voice of Markus Archer. The second song, Death Major, is dominated by Adam »Doseone« Drucker’s squawking fast raps, laid on a musical bed with quick Hi-Hats almost too hectic for the band. The following Armored Scarves proves how the two voices can be combined to the brilliant performance of a duet. 13&God are definitely musical trailblazers who master their instruments to perfection while being led by creativity, tearing down borders of genres and countries. The album that was recorded equally in California and Weilheim is again released through the band’s own labels Anticon and Alien Transistor.
