Whenever contemporary jazz is discussed, Yussef Dayes must also be mentioned. The multi-instrumentalist is as much on everyone’s lips as he is in all the playlists; he can be heard in the living rooms of beatmakers, sports students and Utrecht coffee shops.
Now Yussef Dayes is releasing his first album. Yes, really. »Black Classical Music« is the first solo album by the busy musician and will be released on September 8, 2023 by Brownswood Recordings. A limited Purple Vinyl Edition will be offered exclusively by HHV Records.

Early adaptors know Yussef Dayes from the quartet United Vibrations, which he founded with his brothers Ahmad and Kareem and saxophonist Wayne Francis. Far better known: His collaboration with keyboardist Kamaal Williams as Yuseef Kamaal. Live EPs and live albums followed, »Live At Joshua Tree«, »Welcome To The Hills« and »Love Is The Message«.
But Dayes is not only one of the best-known representatives of the current jazz sound. He has also long since arrived in pop: Collaborations with rapper Pa Salieu, R&B stars Kehlani and Kali Uchis and the celebrated and sadly deceased fashion innovator Virgil Abloh bear witness to this.
