There was exactly one live appearance by the Gary Bartz NTU Troop in Germany. The band was founded by Gary Bartz in 1972 and the line-up changed constantly. The quartet that took to the stage of the Post-Aula in Bremen on 8 November 1975 consisted of Gary Bartz on saxophone, Howard King on drums, Curtis Robertson on bass and Charles Mims on piano. They revealed themselves to be perfectly attuned and harmonised. A formation at the height of their creative powers. Shortly afterwards, they went their separate ways.

The concert, which lasted one hour and 46 minutes, was recorded by Radio Bremen and is now being released on vinyl for the first time under the title »Live In Bremen 1975«. Available in a **limited** coloured vinyl edition of 100 copies **exclusively** from HHV Records.

Climax and (not) the End

For the members of the NTU Troop, however, this was not the end of their careers. Gary Bartz, who jammed with Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan and Pharoah Sanders, joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1965 and played in the Miles Davis Band from 1970, is now 84 years old and still travelling the jazz stages. King, Robertson and Mims later played with Robert Flack, Lou Rawls, James Brown and Patrice Rushen.
