To write about Soyuz СОЮЗ is to connect Minsk in Belarus with Minas Geraes in Brazil and perhaps even a little with Brighton in England. Let’s give it a try: Soyuz is a collective from Minsk led by Alex Chumak and Mikita Arlou. Their music is strongly influenced by the Música Popular Brasileira of the 1960s and 1970s. They sing in Portuguese, Belarusian and Russian. Her records have been released on the Brighton label Mr Bongo. That’s done.

Highly emotional and very catchy
The string arrangements by Alex Chumak are particularly striking. He also designed them for Sessa‘s highly acclaimed album »Estrela Acesa«, among others. Sessa is also a guest on »Force of the Wind«, her third album from 2022, as is Kate NV (see video). »II« was reissued this year. The result for both: Highly emotional and at the same time very catchy music.
On 2 December 2024, Soyuz will be coming to Berlin for a concert at the Lido at the invitation of XJAZZ! They will be playing there as a quartet with Albert Karch on drums and Igor Wiśniewski on guitar. HHV Records will be represented with a record stand.
