»The Way Out Of Easy«, the new album by the quartet of Jeff Parker (guitar), Anna Butterss (bass), Jay Johnson (saxophone) and Jay Bellerose (drums), which brought us »Mondays At The Enfield Tennis Academy« in 2022, will be released on 22 November 2024. What began in 2016 as a Monday gig at the Enfield Tennis Academy (ETA) – not a tennis club, but a small bar in Los Angeles – has evolved over the years into a tight group practised in improvisation. The first impressions of these recordings, which the Jeff Parker ETA IVtet recorded on 2 January 2023 in the aforementioned bar, which incidentally had to close its doors at the end of last year, bear witness to this.

Once In A Lifetime

Just as exciting as the soon-to-be-released record is the remix project that Jeff Parker and his label International Anthem have recently launched. They are providing 25 record shops worldwide – including our HHV Store at Grünberger Straße in Berlin-Friedrichshain – with a limited number of USB sticks containing the music from »The Way Out Of Easy« to give out to potential remixers. Interested parties can pick them up in person at the stores and submit their reinterpretations by 12 December 2024. Jeff Parker himself will make a selection from these submissions for a remix album limited to 1,000 copies, which will be released next year. The album will never be released digitally, but will only be sold directly as vinyl via participating record shops. This could be your chance.
