Soul and self-discovery
On his debut, trained jazz singer and pianist Pale Jay works through the gradual disintegration of a family. With »Bewilderment«, he questions the stories he had always lived with and re-examines his identity. In this approach of biographical coming to terms with the past, the album is very present – his sound, on the other hand, is timeless: slow soul with disco and Afrobeat influences, Labi Siffre, Carole King and William Onyeabor are the influences. HHV exclusively offers the album in an opaque natural vinyl edition.
