Lloyd Parks’ 1973 solo debut is to be »Officially« re-released

05.03.2025

Reggae fans were familiar with the Jamaican bassist long before Lloyd Parks landed a huge hit with »Officially« in 1973. Born in Kingston in 1948, he played in the Invincibles in the late 1960s with the very young musicians Sly Dunbar, Ansell Collins and Ranchie McLean. He then formed the band The Termites with Wentworth Vernal. He later became a member of Skin, Flesh & Bones, worked with Dennis Brown and Prince Far I, and formed the band We The People.

But the song he will be remembered for is probably »Officialy«. It can be found on the album of the same name, the original tapes of which recently resurfaced (see photo), allowing the record to be remastered and finally re-released on 25 April 2025 on Jamdung. There will be a limited orange vinyl edition of 100 copies, exclusively available at HHV Records.
