Lana Del Rey’s albums are becoming more and more like events. With her ninth record »Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd«, the 37-year-old continues her well-known concept: Everything turned up to midtempo and nostalgia for a flirt with the dark side of the American dream. Which culminates in the new title track in lines like: »Fuck me to death, love me until I love myself«. Is that still entertainment or already depression? In any case, enough provocation, as many reactions on the net and in blogs showed.
Yet the song is one of the best songs Lana Del Rey has ever recorded, just for the choir, violins and pathos. Because Lana Del Rey obviously manages, as she does on every album, to retain her identity, the charm of her singing, and only change nuances in the sound to reveal a completely different side of it.
Entertainment or Provocation
For the ninth album, which will be released March 10, 2023, there are also features with Father John Misty and Bleachers. Besides Lana Del Rey, Zach Dawes and Jack Antonoff worked on the production again. An album that will be one of the great pop moments of the year, for sure.
Exclusively at HHV, »Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd« will be available as a dark pink vinyl edition with an alternative cover, limited to 500 copies.
