»Haven’t You Heard?« Patrice Rushen is coming to Germany! On July 10, 2024, the R’n’B singer, jazz pianist and disco dancer will play a concert at Berlin’s Gretchen. It’ll be first ever concert in Berlin!
Patrice Rushen was already a successful musician at the end of the 1970s. She received a Grammy nomination for »Forget Me Nots«. Years later, the song ended up as a sample in the title track of Will Smith’s »Men in Black«. Oh, and then she also contributed to Prince’s debut album »For You« and played with Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Sheena Easton, to name just a few.
Forget her not! Go there!
The reissue label Strut recently released a retrospective of Rushen’s early years as a singer, who produced many of her songs herself. She once received poor reviews for her fusion of jazz, funk and soul, but opened up new areas of business with the dance charts. Rushen, who retired as a musician in the nineties, produced for cable television and managed productions such as the Grammys and Janet Jackson’s world tour.
