The compilation »Forever Gamblin’ On You«, released by the Los Angeles-based label Forager, brings together eleven songs in the field of tension between soft rock, psychedelic folk, soul and funk. It is a selection of curious rarities from the seventies and eighties, released in very limited editions or as private pressings. There’s »Start It All Over Again« by Alias, which sounds like a futile attempt by Neil Young to incorporate pop. Roy McComas’ »Girl Of My Dreams« is a ballad that will make you want to hold on to your red wine after just a few bars.
Organ music for the long haul
»Forever Gamblin’ On You« is perfect for long nights and those moments when the sun disappears behind the horizon. A past sound for a future that never existed. In its naivety, it is quintessentially American and that is precisely why it is so fascinating, so melancholy, so touching. The soundtrack for moving on. Where to? The main thing is to get away, away, away, the hope dies last that you won’t find something better than the end at the end of the road.
Was ein erstaunlich zusammenhängendes Bild abgibt.
The vinyl LP is expected to be released on 7 June 2024, with HHV Records exclusively offering an Orange Vinyl Edition limited to 200 copies.
