On April 4th, 2025, »Abyss«, the third album by British singer Annika Henderson, will be released on Sacred Bones. Exclusively at HHV Records there will be a limited Black Burgundy/White Splash Vinyl Edition of the album. The single »Walk Away« and the accompanying video were released this week. While she was still covering Portishead’s Dub-Covers with Geoff Barrow on her first solo album, she has since developed into a songwriter who prefers to tell her own stories.

Bleak outlook

The album title »Abyss« refers to the current world situation. In view of this, it seems as if there is no other place we can collectively turn our gaze to these days.

When it comes to glimmers of hope, musically, she leaves that to others. Hendderson, who used to work as a political journalist, is good at putting her finger on the wound. She uses a haunting mixture of sung texts and dark, oppressive post-punk with a wave-like impact. The album was recorded in Hansa Studios in Berlin in just a few days. Because Anika has no time to lose. The world around her, anyway.
