American-Iranian artist Rahill Jamalifard releases her first album. »Flowers At Your Feet« will be out on May 12, 2023 via Big Dada. The 14 songs alternate between trip-hop and garage rock. For this mix of styles, Rahill has collaborated with Alex Epton, who has already co-produced FKA Twigs’ »Magdalene« as an in-house engineer at XL Recordings. The album follows her EP »Sun Songs« from last year, for which she covered a song by Shuggie Otis.
Singer, radio DJ, wax crayon painter
Rahill grew up an hour’s drive outside Detroit – the only child of Iranian parents. The hobby soccer player and wax crayon painter sang in a New York surf rock band called Habibi until the end. In the meantime, she translates poems into Farsi. Those who regularly tune in to NTS also know Rahill as the DJ of her monthly show from New York. For almost three years, records by Miles Davis, Sun Ra or Bill Evans have landed on her plates.
»Flowers At Your Feet« is Rahill’s debut album and includes features by Beck and Jasper Marsalis. Exclusively on HHV Records, the record will be available in a limited Green Marble Vinyl Edition.
