Fourth World Music

**Fourth World Music is an aesthetic category coined by Jon Hassell that combines traditional, mostly non-European musical forms with electronic sounds and Western avant-garde. The goal is to create a culturally hybrid sound language that transcends geographical or stylistic boundaries. The term emerged in the early 1980s in the context of postcolonial thinking.
