Amapiano is a genre that emerged in South Africa in the mid-2010s. It combines elements from House music, Kwaito and Gqom. Amapiano is marked by complex, percussive rhythms, high-pitched synthesiser melodies that evoke lounge, jazz or church organs, and pounding bass.
