In the context of this year’s anniversary we henceforth want to establish a DJ mix series, where we want reflect the time since the foundation of hhv.de in 2002 until today musically. After DJ Scientist started last month with a wonderful tribute to the »golden« boom bap era now follows labelhead of project: Mooncircle, Gordon Gieseking.
As the label philosophy of Project: Mooncircle corresponds, the fundamental atmospheric charakter in Gordons 30 minutes long mix blurs the boundaries between electronic music and hip hop. The carried flair is a little melancholy, a bit of daydreaming driven, however continuously affective and harmonious. Of course, the connection to Project: Mooncircle runs like a thread through the half hour. When 40 Winks released their wonderful »Melancholia« they were not linked with the Berlin-based label. Similar to CYNE whose tune »Radiant Cool Boy« provides a vocal accent in predominantly instrumental content. This is followed by Teebs with »Wind Loop«which can not only be heard on his debut »Ardour« (on Brainfeeder) but also on a rare promo-CD from 2009. With Floating Points the musical aspect tilts definitively in the electronic metier and Robot Kochs current »Cosmic Waves« coherently closes the half our, before the mix fades out.
