Let’s Go!

Minimal Wave • 1991

With their historical understanding of synth-pop and early electronic club music, Duo Deux are predestined for re-release. Minimal Wave, established in 2005 by Veronica Vasicka, makes a lot of sense as a platform for the music of Gérard Pelletier and Cati Têtes. After all, the focus on minimal synth and new wave is already reflected in the name. After Deux has already made an appearance there with the EP »Golden Dreams«, which the New York label first re-released last year, this record features three variations of the title track and a previously unreleased version of »Everybody’s Night«: the »Dirty Mix«. Pelletier, who died in 2013, whispers the first words, Tête only comes in later. The basic mood of the track is cool, sounding like pioneering times, and is made up of fragile individual parts. With »Everybody’s Night To Love You«, Tête supercharges the forthcoming night with excitement even before leaving the apartment. »Let’s Go!« from 1991 also switches into player mode. In the duets, the two present themselves as seekers, as romantics who never forget sex in the process. The most danceable is the »Trash Mix«, on which the vocal sections only start towards the end. The »Not Really The Same Mix« builds its groove conventionally before Pelletier is the first to kick in again. The »In The City Mix« shows where this distinguished sound belongs: in the big city, whether in 1991 or today.
