Here they are again, Gothenburg’s darlings, Treasury Of Puppies, who through their name automatically hold the distinction of being the record bohemian’s favourite band. The second round from the laconic Swedish spoken word therefore. Or what the liner notes threaten the genre with: art rock. The music quickly refutes this crude accusation, and, as is our fortune, a few electric guitar riffs do not make for rock music either. Compared to their debut album, »Mitt Stora Nu« is actually a bit tidier and at the same time – grander. Charlott Malmenholt’s and Joakim Karlsson’s sound now seems perfectly focussed; the self-confidence is there to just go through with it, without having to force experimental passages to prove their own assertion. One of the two speaks about slow sound collages, long synths, naïve piano tinkling and clear tone sequences. The language is Swedish, the manner of presentation non-expressive. Which is why it is hard to tell whether we are being given tips for cleaning the oven or the theme is one of a serious farewell. »Mitt Stora Nu« at any rate is more post-punk than art-rock in its essence, which is what Sneaks would sound like if she had a weak circulation, a weakness for ibuprofen and cinnamon buns, and released music on Förlag För Fri.
