Is that still punk rock? Or is it already pop? And maybe it doesn’t matter at all? Because Isolation Berlin have been convincing with idiosyncratic stories in impressive songwriting for two albums now. With »Geheimnis« (engl. Secret), the next feat for the German-language music landscape is now announced. Recorded in their own studio in Berlin-Buch, it is about outsiders, love, hate and Nina Hagen. With »Private Probleme« (Private Problems) appeared only a few weeks ago, the last musical announcement of the new album and fueled with driving guitar like stomping rhythm the suspicion that »Geheimnis« could find itself in one or the other year’s best list for 2021. It goes without saying that Isolation Berlin leave out the problems in the lyrics of the song itself. After all, it says: »I have private problems, I don’t want to talk about them«. As long as the band makes music to it, however, everything is good. Because the sound seems a bit more reduced, less punchy, but therefore not less striking and insistent. And in the end it is just a good, own sound.
Exclusively on HHV Records, »Geheimnis« will be available as an orange vinyl edition, limited to 300 copies, and including a bonus LP with the live album »Live in Ho Chi Minh City«.
