Uniri

Infinite Reflections

Astigmatic • 2024

This is the first studio album from a band of four London-based artists. They call themselves »Uniri«, which means »one united dream«. Listening to the tracks on their début album »Infinite Reflections«, it’s clear why they chose this name. Uniri brings together four artists who create melodies and rhythms together, combining their musical skills. They also draw on influences from different genres. The tracks fill a colourful palette of sounds ranging from jazz to hip-hop to ambience. However, Uniri’s ambience doesn’t sound like bedroom production, as they call it, but more like a disco ball and a Martini glass. The quartet composed the tracks for their début album during a spontaneous session in the studio, resulting in the jazz character of »Infinite Reflections«. It sounds like »Uniri« were sitting at their instruments live. The sounds fizz in dynamic variety, as if there were no script, just an intimate interplay of four artists who harmonise beautifully. Light beats and sweeping synths intertwine, drums are played, whispers are heard here and there. This record is wrapped in a hedonistic garment that suits it well and makes for bliss. »Infinite Reflections« creates a new beat aesthetic where dancing is the order of the day rather than dreaming.
