The trajectory of Jerrilynn Patton’s career has been as full of twists and turns as the Gary, Indiana-based producer’s records. Sure, a Björk feature isn’t hardly surprising at this point, but who would have thought that Philip Glass and the Kronos Quartet would ever get down with Jlin? Though honestly, if you really think about it, that is only a somewhat logical next step, too. In that sense, “Akoma” is just the album that you would expect from Patton: She hasn’t completely abandoned her footwork roots, but overall these are tracks from which a thousand new genres could spring, each more exciting than the next one.
